Reiki Massage
By Craig Daniels
The Reiki Massage The Origins Of Reiki Reiki massage has its origin in Japanese Buddhist spiritual practice. Reiki, translated simply refers to the technique of healing with the palms. The practice of ancient Japanese Buddhists are well recognized for their ability to use natural methods to heal the body and mind. Japanese healing techniques employ the same basis of thinking as that of Chinese healing techniques. Where Japanese practitioners refer to this energy as "ki", the Chinese refer to this fundamental as "chi". In "ki", as with "chi", strength for healing comes from a central point of energy in the body that can transmit energy to other parts of the body for healing or re-invigoration. This is done in synchrony with deep concentration and proper body alignment. In Reiki massage, practitioners use the palms of their hands to activate energy. Reiki - A Holistic Therapy Reiki massage, as a westernized holistic therapy, coordinates healing on several levels: spiritual, mental, physical and emotional. By incorporating all of these areas of wholeness for greater dimensions of well being, reiki massage offers a whole body and mind form of release and relaxation that becomes a part of daily living. Unlike other forms of massage that concentrate more on the physical body, reiki massage allows the power of the practitioner to flow throughout the recipient's body while the mind concentrates on higher dimensions of tranquility and harmony. Reiki Massage - Using the Body's Own Healing Energies Reiki massage utilizes the watchful eyes of the practitioner to help reveal physical discord. By gentle tapping, soothing touching and blowing on the surface of the skin on parts of the body in disharmony, Reiki practitioners concentrate the power of their energy to affect healing. In Reiki massage, the depths of silence during the treatment help focus concentration where it has the most effect: the neck, back and areas likely to be compromised by injury or pain. In essence, reiki massage disconnects pain or discomfort by the simple placing of the practitioner's hands in pre-determined positions on these areas of the body. One of the reasons Reiki massage is so popular worldwide is the overall effect created by combining proper breathing techniques with coordinates of mental and emotional states as well as an incursion into the spiritual through simple, well orchestrated massage. Thus, reiki massage is an all-inclusive experience that rejevenates from multiple levels. The Reiki Placement Of The Hands Depending on which form of Reiki massage is used, i.e., traditional Japanese or Western, placement of the hands for massage is extremely important. Traditional Reiki massage hand placements number between 12 and 20 and according to Reiki tradition, energy that flows from the practitioner is without limit. The laying on of hands is an ancient belief that delves deeply into the human connection of one individual's energy to another. The practitioner's preparation to amass individual energy is derived from meditation that stresses beliefs of goodness, kindness, positive action and consistency. In some Reiki Massage, the hands are directly attuned to the entire body or localized areas of the body without touching. Instead, the hands are slightly elevated from the body while energy is transferred. The Focus of Energy In Reiki A simple example of the role energy plays in Reiki is akin to a tiny atom, capable of inestimable magnitudes of powerful energy. In Reiki massage, using "ki" as the center of the body's energy base, the practitioner is able to endow the body and senses with this same type of energy. Training the body and mind to remained energy-focused requires regular Reiki massage in order to receive maximum benefits. The Reiki Massage Reiki practitioners train in three degrees before being considered a Reiki master. Individuals who seek Reiki massage are asked to wear comfortable, loose clothing. They are asked to recline on a Reiki table and encouraged to relax. During this period of relaxtion, the Reiki practitioner prepares for the massage with meditation and focus. Following this, the massage begins with the first positioning of the hands for several minutes. While the recipient of the massage focuses attention on the warmth of the hands, symbols used in Reiki and allowing the power of the energy to course through the body |
